Manual Steps to Back-Up your Registry:
Making a backup of your Windows Registry gives you a Restore Point in-case you have computer problems in the future. Also, if you plan to make any changes to your Windows Registry, which we don't suggest, then backing up your Registry is essential!
How do I back-up my Windows Registry?
A Windows Registry Cleaner automatically backs up, cleans, and restores your computer's Registry. Alternatively, you can follow the directions below to manually back-up your Windows Registry.
Steps to manually Back-Up your Windows Registry:
Windows Vista Directions:
- Click Start
, click Run, then type systempropertiesprotection and press OK. (If you're asked for an administrative password or confirmation, type the password or click 'Continue'.)
- In the System Properties screen that appears, on the System Protection tab, click Create.
- Choose a name for the restore point and click Create.
- After the restore point has been created, click OK twice.
Note: If System Restore is turned off, click to select the local disk, click 'Apply' and then click 'Create'.
Windows XP Directions:
- Click Start, click Run, then type %SystemRoot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe, and then click OK.
- On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Create a restore point, and then click Next.
- On the Create a Restore Point page, choose a name for the restore point and click Create.
- After the restore point has been created, click Close.
Note: If System Restore is turned off and you receive a message that asks whether you want to turn on System Restore now. Click 'Yes'. Then, in the 'System Properties' dialog box, click to clear the 'Turn off System Restore' check box, click 'OK', and then repeat this step.
